Juventus have identified Bayern Leverkusen holding mid-fielder Granit Xhaka as an ideal candidate to bolster the midfield.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that with the Bianconeri set to part ways with former West Ham midfielder Douglas Luiz after a difficult first season in Turin, coach Igor Tudor’s side turn towards the former Arsenal skipper as the Croatian tactician seeks a flexible, dynamic, and highly skilled in both phases of the game.
Sandro Tonali remains the dream signing, but with his lucrative price-tag and the Italian international inching closer towards extending his stay with Newcastle United, it remains unlikely for the former Milan midfielder to be sold this summer from the Magpies.
Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi was also another profile that intrigued Juventus, but it seems that the former Sassuolo star is on the verge of signing a contract renewal under newly appointed coach Christian Chivu.
Hence, the Old Lady have shifted their focus towards Xhaka as a possible target to provide depth in midfield after an impressive title winning campaign with Spanish coach Xabi Alonso during the 2023/24 season with Bayern Leverkusen.
Despite being 32-years-old, the Bianconeri rate the Switzerland international highly and would be eager to chase the €12m-15m deep-lying midfielder.
Other alternative signings to the former Arsenal captain include Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma, Florentino Luis of Benfica, and Sporting’s Morten Hjulmand.
