Ex-Manchester United star Juan Mata set to Join Galatasaray on free transfer

Juan Mata has reached an agreement to join Turkish giants Galatasaray on a free transfer, reports AS.

The Spaniard has been a free agent since parting ways with Manchester United at the end of the last season.

During his eight-year spell at Old Trafford, Mata had racked up 285 appearances with 51 goals and 47 assists and also won a FA Cup, Europa League and EFL Cup.

The former Valencia playmaker had also been linked with a move to Premier League outfit Leeds United during the summer transfer window, but Galatasaray have won the race for his signature.

Not long after striking a deal for the marquee transfer of Mauro Icardi from Paris Saint-Germain, the Super Lig giants will now add Mata to their ranks.

It is turning out to be a prolific transfer window for Gala, who have already captured some big names like Dries Mertens, Sergio Oliveira, Lucas Torreira, Haris Seferovic and so on.

With the window closing today, Gala are also looking to sign Austrian talent Yusuf Demir, who plays for Rapid Wien.

The 19-year-old had a brief spell at Barcelona on loan last season before moving to Austria at the start of this year.

Demir is said to be on the verge of moving to the Turkish capital club in a deal worth €6 million.

Gala are looking to change their fortunes off the back of a productive transfer business following an underwhelming campaign last season, where they finished 13th in the table.

They have registered three wins, a draw and a defeat in five league games this season.
