Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic has penned an emotional farewell to the Nerazzurri faithful ahead of his impending switch to Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite Inter’s best efforts to keep the Croatian, Perisic is set to reunite with former manager Antonio Conte and will be looking to replicate the success that the duo enjoyed together as they won the 2020/21 Scudetto.
Perisic enjoyed yet another impressive campaign as he racked up 10 goals and nine assists in 49 games across all competitions.
He was also named man of the match in the Coppa Italia final against Juventus as his brace helped Simone Inzaghi’s men pip Juventus to the trophy following a 4-2 extra-time victory.
While his move to Spurs has not been officially confirmed yet, Persisic has taken to social media to bid the Inter supporters goodbye.
“After 254 games, 55 goals, 49 assists, 3 trophies and 18,934 minutes spent on the pitch wearing this glorious jersey; my journey here has come to an end,” wrote Perisic on his Instagram account.
“Even though every end means a new beginning it’s important to reflect back on these past years and show you my deepest appreciation for the work accomplished.
”It was an unforgettable learning experience for me as a player and for my whole family.
“To the team, the staff, to all the employees but most importantly to the fans: you will always have a special place in my heart.
“I leave feeling privileged having this club in my portfolio.”
Perisic’s move to the English capital will surely be welcomed with great cheer by the Tottenham fans ahead of what looks to be a very promising summer window.
The Lilywhites are back in the Champions League which could see a host of big names walk through the door, while those already at the club will definitely be more inclined to stay.
Per Sky Sports, Conte will be offered up to six new additions in a bid to get his side challenging for titles once again meaning that Perisic’s arrival could be just the tip of the iceberg.
Dejan Kulusevski and Cristian Romero are both expected to be signed permanently, and Alessandro Bastoni could become the latest Serie A export to move to North London.
Meanwhile, Inter are also bracing themselves up for a crunch transfer window as they look to reclaim the league crown from city rivals AC Milan.
A reunion with Romelu Lukaku is on the cards following the latter’s struggles at Chelsea, while Paulo Dybala is believed to be closing in on a switch to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
