Atlético Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Sociedad in San Sebastián (Donostia).
Atlético Madrid were unhappy with the refereeing throughout the match as they were denied Álvaro Morata’s second goal after a lengthy VAR review due to touching João Félix’s hand during the build up and Umar Sadiq’s goal deflected off the Nigerian striker’s hand before going in.
In a post-match interview that appeared Marca, Koke expressed his disappointment with the refereeing:
“Obviously when you exert so much effort against an opponent that makes things difficult, you get angry. The team did everything they had to do to win the game, but the details didn’t work in our favour and they weren’t reviewed as they should have been.”
“It’s a bit confusing. Hopefully a solution will be found. We were wronged in two decisions, three with Correa’s goal. That’s football, sometimes they benefit you and sometimes they don’t. We deserved to win today,” he added.
The Spaniard believes that they should have won the game:
“We did a great job against a very difficult team, I think the team played a great match and we deserved more.”
