Milan manager Stefano Pioli has hailed his club’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan following the Rossoneri’s 3-2 win over Inter.
The Rossoneri came out on top in a very entertaining Milan derby on Saturday evening. Marcelo Brozovic had opened the scoring for Inter in the first-half, but Milan hit back through three goals – two from Rafael Leao and one from Olivier Giroud. Edin Dzeko did pull one back but it was only a consolation.
Maignan though, came up with a fantastic save to deny Inter in the second-half when the score was at 3-2 and his overall performance was largely key.
Pioli spoke to DAZN recently (via TMW) and he hailed the Frenchman: “If the team surprises me, Mike doesn’t surprise me anymore. He’s a person of incredible depth. If we did so well last year it’s because we have quality players, Mike is one of them.”
Maignan had joined Milan last summer from Lille and he had replaced the influential Gianluigi Donnarumma once the Italian left Milan to join PSG. But Maignan has more than just replaced the ex-Rossoneri youngster and has become a vital figure for Pioli’s side.
