Kicker report that contract talks between Wolfsburg and Xaver Schlager regarding an extension are ongoing.
The 24-year-old can imagine staying at the Bundesliga club but are still far apart in some details. Schlager is currently entering the final year of his contract and if an agreement isn’t reached, VfL may be forced to sell in the summer or risk losing the midfielder on a free transfer in 2023.
Schlager played just 14 Bundesliga games last season but missed much of the start through injury. 11 of Schlager’s 14 games came at the end of the season, where he became an integral member of the squad.
