Serie A champions Inter Milan will be forced to make do without the contributions of a leading member of their backline in the club’s upcoming meeting with Barcelona.
The player in question? Benjamin Pavard.
Defender Pavard was for his part forced into a premature departure from Inter’s most recent outing.
En route to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of AS Roma, the France international went to ground early on, before limping off with what appeared to be an ankle issue.
Just days out from the Nerazzurri’s Champions League semi-final first-leg meeting with the aforementioned Barcelona, Pavard, in turn, saw his participation thrown up in the air.
And if the latest word stemming from Italy on Monday is anything to go by, then the former Bayern Munich man, now, can be considered as all but ruled out.
As per a report from Sky Sport:
‘Bad news for Simone Inzaghi ahead of the away match against Barcelona for the Champions League semi-final: Pavard will not be there, the French defender’s ankle sprain has been confirmed.’
