Newcastle United are working on a summer deal to sign Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-Jae, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Magpies have reportedly identified the South Korea international as a more experienced alternative to Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen and are keeping tabs on his situation in Germany.
Eddie Howe is keen on bolstering his St James’ Park defence this summer and has placed the signing of a top-level centre-back among his priorities for the upcoming window.
Kim is proven at the highest level across spells with both Bayern and Napoli and could be available for around £40m after the season.

As another centre-back option for Howe
According to O’Rourke, Kim could be among several first-team Bayern departures this summer, despite only joining the Bundesliga giants in 2023 from Napoli.
If he does become available, Newcastle are likely to take a closer look at the 28-year-old, who would bring experience and big-game presence to their backline.
Kim, praised as ‘one of the best defenders in world football’, has been an important player for Bayern this season, making 43 appearances across all competitions and scoring three goals.
He is now close to winning his first piece of silverware with the German club, as Bayern sit eight points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table with three games to play.
Newcastle are heading for a busy summer transfer window after resolving their PSR concerns, with reinforcements expected at both ends of the pitch.
According to GIVEMESPORT sources, the Magpies are keen on signing a new right-sided forward and a backup striker, as Callum Wilson is expected to depart upon the expiry of his contract.
Newcastle are third in the Premier League with four games to play, five points off Arsenal in second.
