Aston Villa and Newcastle will go head-to-head in the Premier League at Villa Park on Saturday evening in a huge clash for the Champions League places.
Unai Emery’s side crashed out of the Champions League on aggregate despite claiming a memorable 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain in midweek, while Jason Tindall led the Magpies to a stunning 5-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League to move them into third place in the absence of ill boss Eddie Howe.
Both teams will have some big decisions to make on their lineup for the game as they look to secure a top five finish this season, and this is how GIVEMESPORT expect the teams to start.
Aston Villa Team News
Bailey doubtful
Emery has rotated his squad in recent match weeks as he prioritised the Champions League quarter-finals but now he will turn his full attention back to the Premier League.
Jamaica international Bailey hasn’t featured since the middle of March due to injury and while he has returned to training he may not be ready to feature yet. The rest of the squad is fit, and Villa can welcome back Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia to the squad after they were ineligible in midweek.

Emery Drops Team News Update
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Emery shared an update on the squad ahead of the game.
“The most important for me now is how they are, the players.
“We are going to train this afternoon, we are going to try to test the players how they are for tomorrow.
“It’s good news that in the last matches we’ve been recovering a lot of players.
“At the beginning, every player is available for tomorrow.
“We’ll test them if someone can feel something or is tired more than normal.”
Aston Villa Predicted XI
Rashford over Watkins again
- Aston Villa Predicted XI: Martinez; Konsa, Disasi, Torres, Digne; Kamara, Tielemans; McGinn, Rogers, Ramsey; Rashford.
- Aston Villa Predicted Substitutes: Olsen (GK), Cash (DEF), Mings (DEF), Maatsen (DEF), Onana (MID), Barkley (MID), Malen (FWD), Asensio (FWD), Watkins (FWD).
With the team playing well despite elimination in midweek Emery is unlikely to make big changes. Axel Disasi could come into the defence with Konsa moving to right-back to add a bit more strength, while Marcus Rashford is likely to keep his place up front.
That means £410,000-a-week trio Malen, Amadou Onana and Ollie Watkins are set to start on the bench once again.

Newcastle Team News
Howe still absent
The Magpies have limited injury issues to deal with currently but they will once again be without manager Eddie Howe who is recovering from pneumonia.
Jamaal Lascelles, Lewis Hall and Sven Botman remain long-term absentees for the Toon, while Anthony Gordon is pushing to return to the starting lineup despite Harvey Barnes’ good form.

Tindall Drops Team News Update
Speaking in his pre-match press conference in the absence of Howe, Tindall shared an update on the squad ahead of the game.
“When you’re in good form and winning games, it becomes difficult to change your team unless you feel players aren’t performing, and I don’t think anyone can say that because the players are collectively and individually delivering excellent performances.
“In some sense, the team does pick itself, but we’ve got a fantastic squad and everyone’s played their part this season. Everybody is going to need to play their part in the remaining six games.”
Newcastle Predicted XI
Unchanged Magpies
- Newcastle Confirmed XI: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento; Tonali, Joelinton, Guimaraes; Murphy, Isak, Barnes.
- Newcastle Confirmed Substitutes: Dubravka (GK), Krafth (DEF), Targett (DEF), Miley (MID), Willock (MID), Longstaff (MID), Gordon (FWD), Osula (FWD), Wilson (FWD).
With such good form in recent weeks Newcastle are highly likely to go with an unchanged side, which should see £250,000-a-week duo Anthony Gordon and Matt Targett remain on the bench.
