Manchester United are hatching plans to sign RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons and lead the race for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, according to the Daily Mail.
Simons has caught the attention of the Red Devils after another exciting season in Germany, where he has recorded 10 goals and six assists in 29 appearances across all competitions. Last term, the 21-year-old registered 25 goal contributions in 43 outings.
Man United and head coach Ruben Amorim see Simons as perfect for their system. However, signing the playmaker will depend on Champions League qualification. Leipzig value the player at around €80 million.
Also, Man United are not alone in the race to sign the precocious talent. Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Liverpool have shown interest in the former Paris Saint-Germain starlet.
Simons has been tipped for great things since his early days, and United want to take the punt on the highly-rated Dutchman. The Premier League giants have kept contact with the former La Masia academy star.
However, it is unclear if he will be willing to step into the cauldron at Old Trafford when he can find a more stable environment.

The Daily Mail also reports that Man United are leading the race to sign Delap, who is expected to be on the move this summer if the Tractor Boys suffer relegation.
Delap also has interest from Chelsea and other Premier League suitors, but it appears the Reds are at the front of the queue for his signature. The England international has bagged 12 goals in 31 Premier League appearances.

Delap is a talented forward, but it is worrying that United have not learnt their lessons from the Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failures.
United need an experienced striker who can deliver 20 league goals and north of that figure across all competitions. They have invested in potential enough.
Man United need a battle-tested, lethal striker who can spearhead the club back to the top of the Premier League table, and it is hard to envisage that with Delap leading their line.
