Summary
- The Ligue 1 TOTS has been dominated by PSG over the years.
- That’s expected to be the case this year, with Luis Enrique’s side already securing the title.
- Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have all had mind-boggling TOTS card.
When Paris Saint-Germain were bankrolled by a Qatari Sports Investments in June 2011, there was a concern that they would dominate Ligue 1 every campaign. That has come to fruition ever since, with the French top-flight now considered a “farmers’ league” around the world.
They seem to win the title nearly every season, often alongside domestic cup success, and that means the Team of the Season (TOTS) is dominated by PSG stars when it is revealed, both in real life and in the gaming world — currently EA Sports FC 25. The promo is always exciting, and it is expected to begin on Friday, April 25th, this year.
Due to this, we have decided to rank the nine best Ligue 1 TOTS cards in FIFA, now EA Sports FC, history. We have limited every player to just one inclusion — mainly to stop Kylian Mbappe and Neymar from dominating — but each player included was still included ‘meta’ at the time.
Ranking Factors
- Rating – It’s a strong indicator of how impressive a player was.
- In-game stats – Players must have specific world-class stats.
- Comparisons to other players in their game – The ‘power curve’ in EA Sports games has increased over the years, so recent high-rated players have not been as powerful as ones over five years ago.

Kenny Lala
FIFA 19
On a list full of superstars, Kenny Lala stands out like a sore thumb, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve his place. The Frenchman’s FIFA 19 TOTS card was utterly superb. Throughout the game’s cycle, Lala picked up countless special cards, which meant he had built a reputation in the community.
By the time TOTS was released, the right-wing-back was the ‘go to’ option on the right flank, with this TOTS card having no flaws. With stats such as 94 Defending, 96 Pace and 93 Passing, the Strasbourg defender could do absolutely everything you needed, even if he wasn’t a superstar like others.

Nicolas Pepe
FIFA 19
Nicolas Pepe is not remembered as fondly as he should be due to his non-stop struggles at Arsenal, but – before he made the switch to London – the Ivory Coast international was at his electric best. The winger scored 22 and assisted 11 during the 2018/19 campaign, earning him a TOTS card.
While his TOTS card has some issues, mainly just four-star skill moves and a three-star weak foot, he made up for it with world-class stats elsewhere. From 98 Pace and 96 Shooting to 94 Passing and 97 Dribbling, the Lille star could torment anyone in the final third.

Memphis Depay
FIFA 21
In England, Memphis Depay is often known for his disastrous spell at Manchester United. It never clicked for him, but he excelled at Lyon afterwards. He scored 20 and picked up 12 assists in 37 Ligue 1 matches during the 2020/21 campaign, which was, without a doubt, the best season of his career.
It meant he secured a mind-boggling 95-rated TOTS card in FIFA 21, which has 96 Pace, 94 Passing, 93 Shooting and 95 Dribbling. The centre-forward could shine out wide or centrally, with the only downside being that he just had a three-star weak foot.

6
Ousmane Dembele
EA Sports FC 24
Ousmane Dembele is the most recent inclusion on this list. When the former Dortmund star first joined PSG in the summer of 2023, very few had high hopes for him. He was coming off the back of an injury-hit time at Barcelona, with the winger lacking confidence and hope.
However, PSG rejuvenated him and made him their key player. The now-27-year-old secured a mind-boggling 96-rated TOTS card in EA Sports FC 24. It had five-star skills, a five-star weak foot and some world-class stats across the board, including 99 Pace and 97 Dribbling. Incredible.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
FIFA 16
Taking a trip down Memory Lane, Zlatan Ibrahimovic shone as PSG’s first true superstar following their Qatari-backed takeover in 2011. The Swede, who also had an impressive spell at Manchester United, was unstoppable in Ligue 1, and that was showcased during the 2015/16 campaign.
He remarkably scored 38 in just 31 Ligue 1 matches as PSG cruised to the title with 96 points. As one of the world’s best players, he was, unsurprisingly, given an incredible 98-rated TOTS card with 99 Shooting, 96 Dribbling and 97 Physicality. The forward could outmuscle anyone, which meant his lack of speed wasn’t an issue.

Wissam Ben Yedder
FIFA 20
Wissam Ben Yedder could have easily been higher on this list; the Frenchman was that good after securing a well-deserved TOTS card in FIFA 20. He scored 18 in 26 Ligue 1 matches during the 2019/20 season, and this card was the end of the road for “Ben Yedder fanatics”.
Throughout FIFA 20, Ben Yedder was seen as one of the most meta forwards available. His base card was superb, and subsequent special cards were even better. Anyone who used him was called a “rat”, simply because he was that good, so even if the Frenchman did not become a legend like others near the top of this list, he is worthy of a place.

Lionel Messi
FIFA 23
The final three on this list could easily swap positions, and there would be no true complaints. All three of them were world-class, shining as some of the greatest players of all time, and Lionel Messi – up first – epitomises that. When he moved to PSG from his boyhood club, Barcelona, the world was shocked.
He never hit the true form everyone knew he had in the French capital, but he still received two incredible TOTS cards in FIFA 22 and then in FIFA 23. His FIFA 23 version was 98-rated and had 94 Pace, 99 Dribbling and 97 Shooting, with the legendary Argentine capable of dancing around anyone effortlessly.

Neymar
FIFA 19
Messi’s former teammate, Neymar, ironically first joined PSG to get out of the Argentine’s limelight. His move to PSG in 2017 remains the most expensive transfer in football history, and he acted as a consistent source of goals and moments of magic during his spell in the French capital.
In FIFA 19, after averaging over a goal contribution per game in Ligue 1, he secured his best TOTS card. The Brazilian’s 98-rated card had 98 Pace, 95 Passing, 96 Shooting and 99 Dribbling, which meant even the world’s best defenders couldn’t stop him. That’s before you even talk about his five-star skills and five-star weak foot.

Kylian Mbappe
FIFA 20
Finally, Kylian Mbappe’s FIFA 20 version is the best Ligue 1 TOTS card in EA Sports history. Ever since Mbappe broke onto the scene in 2017, he has been world-class, using his blistering pace and mind-boggling finishing to torment defenders for Monaco, PSG and now Real Madrid.
When the FIFA 20 TOTS, named ‘Team Of The Season So Far’ due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, was released, the Frenchman was everyone’s dream player in the gaming world. His 98-rated card was a nightmare for everyone trying to defend, as he utilised his 99 Pace, 97 Shooting and five-star skill moves to shine at a level above everyone else.
