AC Milan closing in on loan move for Wolfsburg midfielder Aster Vranckx

AC Milan are in advanced talks with Wolfsburg to sign young midfielder Aster Vranckx on loan, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

Rossoneri have been scouring the market for midfield reinforcements following the departure of Franck Kessie to Barcelona on a free transfer.

They were also disappointed when their long-term target Renato Sanches snubbed them in favour of a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Serie A champions have now identified Vranckx as their top midfield target.

Di Marzio reports that Rossoneri are eyeing a season-long loan move for the Belgian midfielder with an obligation to buy.

The German club are demanding a buyout clause of €13 million, whereas Milan have offered around €11m.

Vranckx, 19, moved to Volkswagen Arena last summer, netting two goals in 24 appearances in his debut season in Bundesliga.

Milan are looking to add the highly-rated Belgian prospect to their young midfield that contains the likes of Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer, Yacine Adli, Tommaso Pobega, Charles De Ketelaere and Brahim Diaz.

Out-of-favour midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is on loan from Chelsea, has been linked with an exit, with newly promoted Serie A side Monza and Ligue 1 club Lyon said to be the suitors.

Firstly, Milan are expected to announce the signing of centre-back Malick Thiaw, having agreed a deal with Bundesliga club Schalke FC.

Stefano Pioli’s men bounced back from their draw against Atalanta with a comprehensive 2-0 win against Bologna, with Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud finding the scoresheet.

They will face Sassuolo tomorrow before a highly-anticipated Milan derby against Inter Milan on Saturday.
