Bad news for all Freiburg fans:
Midfielder Merlin Röhl is still recovering from a bruise on his heel, could not train with the squad and will therefore miss the game against Mainz 05 on Saturday.
Freiburg coach Julian Schuster had the following to say at the press conference: “Yesterday we tried to see if he can train with us – but that didn’t work out well, he still feels pain when playing normally. That’s why he won’t be in the squad on Saturday.”
Röhl will use the time during the international break to recover in order to be back in the squad in two weeks. Die Breisgauer are in contention for the European places in the Bundesliga – let’s see if Röhl will be able to help Freiburg achieve their big goal for the season.
