According to a report from L’Équipe, Olympique Lyonnais have turned down an offer from Turkish side Galatasaray for defender Clinton Mata (32).
Whilst the transfer window in France has now closed some transfer windows across Europe remain open, including in Turkey, where the deadline is next Tuesday. Galatasaray are still looking to strengthen and have submitted an offer for Mata, an ever-present in OL’s back-line this season.
That bid, L’Équipe understands, is worth €5m. However, Les Gones have turned down that bid for the Angolan international. Lyon have told their counterparts at Galatasaray that they can’t sell a first-time player now, given their inability to replace him. France’s transfer window is now shut, whilst it is also impossible for Ligue 1 clubs to register players arriving on a free transfer between now and the end of the season.
Mata, who can play at full-back or at centre-back, has a contract at the Groupama Stadium that runs until the end of next season.
