L’Équipe understands that Stade Rennais and Montpellier HSC are in talks over the transfer of Jordanian forward Musa Al-Taamari (27).
Montpellier, despite their perilous league standing, are open to selling Al-Taamari this January with the club mired in financial problems and needing to raise funds. The forward, who has two goals and one assist this season in Ligue 1, has been a target for Egyptian club Al-Ahly, who have already seen a €6m bid rejected.
Feyenoord are also interested in the player, however, they are more interested in signing him in the summer, not during the January transfer window. Rennes are looking to bolster their squad. Currently in the relegation play-off spot, they are looking to avoid an unlikely relegation to Ligue 2.
Rennes have already made contact with Montpellier regarding Al-Taamari, whilst the Breton club are also close to offloading Amine Gouiri, who is on the verge of completing his move to Olympique de Marseille.
