According to Foot Mercato, Mahamadou Diawara (19) is likely to leave Olympique Lyonnais during the January transfer window. The midfielder is hoping to leave the Rhône club in the hope of being able to find regular minutes and opportunities elsewhere to aid his development.
Making 11 appearances last season and playing his part in Lyon’s dramatic comeback from relegation candidates to qualify for the Europa League, the 19-year-old made a positive impression during his first professional season. However, fast forward to the season, broken promises around playing time at OL this season have seen the player become disgruntled and unhappy with his situation at the Groupama Stadium.
All options considered
Diawara is valued at between €4.5m – €5m by Lyon, Foot Mercato understands. However, it is not necessarily certain that the France youth international will leave on a permanent transfer. A loan move is also being considered. Nantes, Lens and Celtic have previously registered an interest in signing the French midfielder.
