Today, Viktor Gyökeres (26) is reportedly valued at €100m with many of Europe’s top clubs in the race to sign the free-scoring Swedish forward.
As reported by Foot Mercato, one club that looks set to pass on Gyökeres is Paris Saint-Germain. Luís Campos is keen on the Sporting CP forward, who has netted 24 goals in just 21 games this season, however, Luis Enrique was less keen on the forward. Under the Spaniard’s stewardship, PSG have often functioned without a traditional No.9.
However, Les Parisiens are not the only Ligue 1 side to have passed up the chance to sign Gyökeres Back in 2023, whilst the player was still at Coventry City, the Sweden international was offered to Olympique Lyonnais with the player valued at just €15m at the time, as per Foot Mercato.
However, the club’s sporting director at the time, Bruno Cheyrou turned down the offer. Instead, Gyökeres joined Sporting CP (for €24m), where he has since thrived. Lyon’s loss was Sporting’s gain.
