Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong looks increasingly likely to be afforded what would be a first start of the campaign in the club’s meeting with Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday.
Barca are of course primed to return to action tomorrow night, when Hansi Flick’s troops play host to Serbian giants Red Star in a Champions League clash.
Fresh off a 6th successive victory for the Blaugrana over the weekend, boss Flick is expected to stick with the same core group of players on the continent.
One change, however, is expected in the middle of the park.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘A month after returning from his long injury, Frenkie de Jong has a lot of chances to be in the game, something that if confirmed would be his first start of the season.’
A starting berth for De Jong, in fact, would come as his first since all the way back in April.
Hansi Flick is eager for the Dutchman to get back up to full speed as soon as possible, with one of Pedri and Marc Casadó therefore in line to drop to the bench against Red Star.
