William Gallas believes that Chelsea should not sign Frenkie de Jong this summer, reports Mundo Deportivo.
As communicated earlier this week, Frenkie de Jong is open to moving to Chelsea as the club will play in the Champions League and are set to compete for the Premier League title as well.
However, William Gallas has argued that Chelsea should not consider making a move for De Jong as he is not the kind of player the club needs as “they already have players like him.”
The Frenchman, who played for The Blues from 2001 and 2006, believes that Chelsea should consider players such as Casemiro and Rodri, both of whom are midfielders that prefer to sit in front of the defensive line.
Due to their financial constraints and the Dutchman’s high salary, Barcelona have been looking for ways to offload De Jong this transfer window or reduce his wages.
It is believed that Chelsea are considering to submit an offer worth around €80 million for the 25-year-old.
