Santi Mina, recently sentenced to four years in prison for sexual abuse, can continue playing football in Saudi Arabia.
The player, who is training with Celta Vigo but is not part of the club’s plans, has received an offer from Al Shabab, as per Marca. The team’s coach, former Espanyol boss Vicente Moreno, made the proposal to Celta over the weekend.
Celta would have no problem with the move as they would get rid of a player they do not want in their squad and they would free up their wage bill, the only way of being able to make another signing.
Mina already rejected an offer from Al Shabab and another one from Aris Salonica last month, as his intention was to stay in Vigo and wait for the appeals to his sentence in order to play for Celta again.
The 26-year-old now recognises that if he wants to continue playing football, until there is a sentence, he does not have many more options other than to sign for a team like Al Shabab.
