Al-Ittihad have submitted an official bid to sign West Ham United centre-back Nayef Aguerd, according to Foot Mercato.
The Saudi Pro League club are keen to wrap up a deal for the 28-year-old, who is expected to leave West Ham before the transfer deadline.
West Ham have already strengthened their defensive options with the addition of Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo, so they could allow Aguerd to leave the club in the next few hours.
The Moroccan doesn’t have a future at the club under Julen Lopetegui and hasn’t featured in any of West Ham’s opening two Premier League games.
Aguerd has become a hot commodity as the clock ticks down, and several clubs across Europe are registering an interest in the Moroccan centre-back.
La Liga duo Villarreal and Real Sociedad are among several clubs keen to sign Aguerd, so he’ll likely have his pick of the bunch.
Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers have also explored the possibility of signing Aguerd on a season-long loan.
He made 28 appearances across all competitions last season, netting twice and providing an assist.
His imminent exit will allow West Ham to strengthen their squad further, with the club eyeing a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler.
