Atletico Madrid are currently unable to sign Conor Gallagher, following the collapse of Samu Omorodion’s move in the other direction to Chelsea. Club bosses are desperate to finalise the deal as soon as possible, although they will have to wait for the sale of Joao Felix before proceeding.

While the wait goes on for Gallagher, Atleti have been offered the chance to sign a former midfield target. As per Footmercato (via MD), Sofyan Amrabat is an option to reinforce the pivot position in Diego Simeone’s squad.
Amrabat was on Atleti’s radar during the winter, but he ended up joining Manchester United on a six-month loan. He’s back at Fiorentina, and he will be allowed the opportunity to move on – if one presents itself.
Atletico Madrid could consider the option of Amrabat later in the month, but for now, they are all-in on Gallagher. However, they are reliant on a big sale before re-activated that deal. The wait continues.
