La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have opened talks with their counterparts at Chelsea over yet another potential transfer.
This comes after a last-minute setback saw Samu Omorodion’s move to the latter collapse.
All set to link up with the Blues this coming week, word was forthcoming in the early hours of Monday that, out of the blue, the plug had been pulled on frontman Omorodion’s long-touted Stamford Bridge switch.
This, however, does not mean the end of negotiations between Chelsea and the aforementioned Atlético.
In fact, far from it…
As revealed by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the brass in west London have made use of the ongoing contacts regarding Conor Gallagher’s move to Madrid to initiate discussions over another member of Diego Simeone’s squad.
The player in question? João Félix.
‘As part’ of the deal which is set to send midfielder Gallagher to the Wanda Metropolitano, frontman Félix could now head in the other direction.
Any such move would mark a return to Chelsea for the Portuguese international, who previously lined out in the colours of the Pensioners during the 2022/23 campaign.
It now remains to be seen whether or not an agreement can be reached with super agent Jorge Mendes and co.
