Barcelona want to close first major summer signing ‘this week’

The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona are hopeful of wrapping up a deal for a leading summer transfer target at some point this week.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Dani Olmo as the chosen one.

It is of course common knowledge that, after coming up short in their pursuit of first-choice target Nico Williams, the focus of the Camp Nou brass has now shifted firmly towards Olmo, in efforts to reinforce new boss Hansi Flick’s frontline.

An agreement on the terms of a contract is long understood to have been sewn up with the La Masia product, but, to date, no such accord has been found with RB Leipzig.

If the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, though, then Barcelona, evidently, have plans to imminently amend as much.

As per a report from Sport:

‘There will be a meeting on Tuesday with the sporting leaders of the German club with one point on the agenda: to find the formula that will make the transfer of the Spanish international to Barcelona possible. Barca want to sign Olmo this week.’
