Die Roten Bullen confirmed on Saturday that the Austrian international will stay in Germany after undergoing surgery on his right knee on Friday.
However, Baumgartner, who has been struggling with knee problems for some time, will not be out for long.
According to RB Leipzig, he will “soon be available” to head coach Marco Rose.
Baumgartner scored five goals and provided three assists in 40 matches for RB Leipzig last season.
