For a long time, Bayern Munich seemed to be the favorites to sign Xavi Simons, but now it looks like RB Leipzig have taken the lead in the race.
On loan from Paris Saint-Germain last season, Xavi Simons quickly became a key player for RB Leipzig.
Therefore, Die Roten Bullen are naturally keen to keep hold of him – and it seems they have a good chance of doing so.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig are “confident” of extending the Dutchman’s loan spell for another season.
Sky Germany recently reported that Bayern Munich have decided to sign only one of Simons and Stade Rennes’ Désiré Doué.
Bayern are reported to have made a bid worth €55 million for Doué on Tuesday, which could indicate that they are now focusing on the Frenchman rather than Simons.
