Turkish footballing journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports that TSG 1899 Hoffenheim transfer flop Attila Szalai is headed back to the Turkish Süper Liga on loan.
One of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim’s most expensive ever summer signings will be loaned out for the second time in six months. Turkish footballing journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports that 26-year-old Hungarian international Attila Szalai – having just joined the Kraichgauer from Fenerbahçe last summer – will now join Tabzonspor on loan. The player remains under contract in Sinsheim through 2027.
Szalai failed to establish himself in TSG head-coach Pellegrino Matarazzo’s XI over the course of the 2023/24 Bundesliga “Hin-runde”. The central defender was loaned out to SC Freiburg for the second half of the campaign, yet wasn’t able to accrue minutes for Christian Streich’s team either. All told, the Hungarian national team regular made just seven appearances for both clubs.
