Real Madrid have successfully extended the contracts of two of their crucial first-team staff, goalkeeping coach Luis Llopis and fitness coach Antonio Pintus. Both have been credited with considerable roles in Los Blancos’ success since Carlo Ancelotti’s return.
Both were out of contract this summer, but Marca report that both have renewed their contracts. The pair’s deals were negotiated separately from that of the rest of the staff, Davide Ancelotti, Francesco Mauri, Beniamino Fulco and Simeone Montanaro. Their future is not tied to that of the Italian manager, with the club considering them crucial for whichever coach is in charge.
Pintus had a first spell under Zinedine Zidane, but was sacked by the Frenchman upon his return, and brought back in 2021 under Ancelotti. He is generally credited with Real Madrid’s ability to peak in April and May physically. Meanwhile Thibaut Courtois has been considered the best goalkeeper in the world for the last few years, and Andriy Lunin was amongst the best in Spain this season, which Llopis had a hand in too. He also returned from Real Sociedad in 2021.
