RB Leipzig confirmed that Dutch attacking prospect Yannick Eduardo would be loaned back to his old academy club of NEC Nijmegen.
Some two years after joining the German Red Bulls from Dutch side NEC Nijmegen, 18-year-old Dutch striker Yannick Eduardo is headed back to his academy side on a season-long loan-stint. The teenage talent signed a professional contract with RB Leipzig this past January. He featured twice in head-coach Marco Rose’s match-day selection, but has yet to make his Bundesliga debut.
Eduardo did score 19 goals and pocket three assists for the Leipzig A-Junioren last year, also netting five tallies in seven fixtures in the UEFA Youth League. The Leipzig juniors reached the 2023/24 competition’s round-0f-16 in large part thanks to his performances. Eduardo’s current professional contract in Saxony runs through 2027.
“Yannick Eduardo was one of the absolute top performers in our U19s last season and is now ready to prove himself as pro,” RB sporting director Rouven Schröder noted in a club statement, “The loan is the perfect next step for Yannick and us for his best possible development. He will play in the first team and should gain as much match practice as possible. We wish Yannick all the best for the season in the Netherlands.”
