Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is ‘trying to get his head straight’ after struggling to make a positive impact at the World Cup, according to journalist Dean Jones.
The striker, who is currently with Inter Milan after a £6.9million loan offer was accepted in June, failed to grab the goals to take Belgium beyond the group stage in Qatar.
World Cup news – Romelu Lukaku
It proved to be a World Cup to forget for Lukaku, who left the tournament having failed to get his name on the scoresheet after making substitute appearances against Morocco and Croatia.
Belgium’s early elimination resulted in former Everton chief Roberto Martinez stepping down as the country’s boss.
Sofascore statistics show that Lukaku missed four big chances at the World Cup and notched an underwhelming average match rating of 5.95.
The 29-year-old found it particularly difficult to digest the goalless draw with Croatia, which saw Belgium crash out.
Lukaku was seen being consoled by assistant manager Thierry Henry and also punched through a dugout window in frustration after missing a host of golden opportunities.

What has Dean Jones said about Lukaku?
Jones had sympathy for Lukaku when he saw the emotional scenes immediately after Belgium were officially knocked out of the World Cup following the stalemate with Croatia.
However, the journalist understands that the Inter loanee has set his sights on bouncing back from his woes in Qatar.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I did feel sorry for him in that game, given the lack of minutes he’d had coming into it. He probably shouldn’t have even been on the pitch.
“From what I’m told, he’s trying to get his head straight immediately. He’s working hard so that he can bounce back from the first game of the restart.”
Does Lukaku have a future at Chelsea?
Chelsea broke their transfer record by forking out £97.5million to sign Lukaku from Inter last year, but he ended up being back at the San Siro less than 12 months later.
It seems that there is no way back for the Belgian at Stamford Bridge as, according to Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues have made it clear that they are not interested in him returning to west London.
The report suggests Inter are looking to negotiate another loan agreement, which would see Lukaku remain at the San Siro for a further year, and he is keen to stay in his current surroundings.
Although the frontman still has more than three-and-a-half years remaining on his £350,000-per-week contract at Chelsea, it appears he may not be handed an opportunity to reignite his Premier League career under head coach Graham Potter.
