Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley is likely to attract ‘a lot of Premier League interest’ over the coming months, according to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph.
The 21-year-old has cemented his status as a key player for the Hoops under the tutelage of manager Ange Postecoglou, reportedly attracting the attention of several top clubs from across the continent.
What is the latest news involving O’Riley?
A report from ESPN back in August stated that the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United were taking a keen interest in O’Riley’s development.
It was also claimed that Leicester City and Newcastle United were the most likely sides to make a move for the technically gifted ace, who is valued between £15 million and £20m.
However, a formal offer failed to materialise for O’Riley, and he revealed after the transfer window closed that he has ‘no plans to leave Celtic’.
“Yes, there are some clubs who have inquired about me. I can’t say which clubs, though,” he told Danish media outlet Bold.dk.
“But while it’s great to know there’s a lot of interest in me, I’ve only got one thing on my mind and that’s to do well for Celtic. I have no plans to leave Celtic, so if nothing happens, nothing happens, and that’s fine.”
What has Joseph said about O’Riley?
Celtic only signed O’Riley from MK Dons in a £1.5m deal back in January, but Joseph believes he is likely to be in high demand once the transfer window re-opens for business.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “It’s only going to stand him in good stead. Clubs are going to be all over him, and knowing that he started his career in England, will try to bring him back to England.
“So, I can only speculate, but I think there’ll be a lot of Premier League interest for O’Riley arriving as well.”
How well has O’Riley played this season?
O’Riley is yet to find the back of the net for Celtic this season, but he has managed to rack up an impressive five assists in his 16 outings across all competitions.
As per WhoScored, the 6 foot 2 ace has also averaged 2.5 shots and two key passes per Scottish Premiership fixture, placing him in the top two for both metrics when compared to his teammates.
His solid displays in the Champions League have showcased O’Riley’s ability to hold his own on the biggest stage, and he could be ready to take the next step in his promising career sooner rather than later.
