Tottenham Hotspur have not entered negotiations over Alessandro Bastoni but their pursuit of the Inter Milan star is ‘an open situation’, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Head coach Antonio Conte may have spent close to £150million bolstering his squad during the summer, but he will be handed another opportunity to add fresh faces during the January window.

What’s the latest news involving Bastoni?
According to Italian media outlet Inter Live, Tottenham are eager to sign Bastoni and could lodge a bid worth just over £43million.
But the report suggests Inter are not interested in sanctioning the 17-cap Italy international’s departure as they are preparing to open discussions over a new contract amid additional interest from Manchester United and Manchester City.
Romano has also told GIVEMESPORT that the San Siro-based Serie A giants are ‘not open’ to selling Bastoni during the January transfer window.
However, there is uncertainty over the 23-year-old’s long-term future as he is set to enter the final 18 months of his Inter contract, which is worth £89,000-per-week, at the turn of the year.
Conte is reportedly seeking upgrades in defence, midfield and attack during the winter.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Bastoni?
Romano understands that Tottenham have not entered negotiations with Inter as they look to lure Bastoni away from his homeland.
The respected journalist has also been made aware that the north Londoners have yet to open talks with their transfer target’s representatives with the January window just a matter of weeks away.
However, he believes that could all change as Spurs aim to bolster Conte’s options for the second half of the season.
Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “At the moment, nothing is going on between Tottenham and Inter or Tottenham and Bastoni’s agents, so it’s still an open situation.”
Is Bastoni interested in joining Tottenham?
It appears that Tottenham have already suffered a major setback ahead of the winter transfer window as Bastoni has reportedly decided that he does not want to leave Inter.
That is worrying news for Conte, who celebrated a year in charge of Spurs earlier this month, particularly because he holds a long-standing interest.
It is understood that Bastoni was included on a four-man shortlist of left-sided centre-back targets ahead of the summer, but a deal was not possible.
Tottenham went into the break from domestic football sitting fourth in the Premier League and will be keen to maintain their place in the Champions League qualification spots, but it seems they may have to turn their attentions elsewhere when it comes to seeking a new defender.
