Borussia Dortmund head coach Nuri Şahin was today asked for his take on which of Spanish football’s two leading clubs represents a tougher opponent.
Dortmund, for their part, have been forced to face off with both Real Madrid and Barcelona over recent weeks.
Against the former, BVB looked in full control of things during the first-half, only for a collapse beyond the interval to give rise to an eventual 5-2 defeat.
Then, on Wednesday, it was Hansi Flick’s Barca who proved too much for the Germans, en route to an eventual 3-2 result at Signal Iduna Park.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the latter fixture, the subject of which of La Liga’s top two he feels are superior at this moment in time was therefore put to the aforementioned Nuri Şahin.
And the tactician, who spent time on the books of Real Madrid during his playing days, unsurprisingly opted for Los Blancos with his answer:
“Wow. You’re asking a Madridista! For me, Dortmund, but if I have to choose, I would always choose Real Madrid.”
