Oleksandr Usyk Reveals 4-Man Shortlist For Next Fight After Beating Daniel Dubois

Oleksandr Usyk wasted little time telling almost 100,000 fight fans what’s next for him as he revealed a four-man shortlist for what’s next for him in boxing, after brutally beating Daniel Dubois in the fifth round of a dominant win Saturday, the 19th of July, at Wembley Stadium in London.

Usyk and Dubois first met in a heavyweight world title fight in 2023, and though Dubois put Usyk on the floor, it was ruled a low blow despite later protestations from the Brit’s promoter Frank Warren, who argued it would have yielded a knockout win. And, thus he said, Dubois warranted a second shot at one of the greatest fighters of the modern era.

But, in England, Usyk showed that there is no question as to who the better boxer is, as he put a beating on Dubois from the first round to the fifth, dropped him twice for good measure, and secured a thumping victory — this time, without controversy.

Usyk revealed what’s next after brutally beating Daniel Dubois in London

“Next, I don’t know,” Usyk said at first, in the middle of the ring, when asked for who, or what, he’ll pursue, now he’s thrashed Dubois for a second, and more conclusive, time.

“I will rest,” he added, before explaining that he wants to be with his family. “My wife, my children.”

Usyk then said, “maybe, in two or three months,” he’ll fight again, and went through four names in boxing as Tyson Fury, Joseph Parker, Dereck Chisora, and Anthony Joshua all seemed to remain on his shortlist.

“Derek is here … maybe it’s Tyson Fury. Maybe we have three options: Derek Chisora and Anthony Joshua. Maybe Joseph Parker.”

What’s clear is that Usyk has many options in the sport right now. This is his era, and all the other challengers are just living in it. Usyk has beaten Dubois, Fury, and Joshua twice each already. And appears likely to lap the competition once more. Parker, though, would at least be a new opponent.

But, for Usyk, he’s in no rush to make his decision. “I cannot say now,” he said. “I want to go back home.”
