Man Utd Will Now Let ‘Fantastic’ Star Depart on Loan After Rashford

Manchester United youngster Harry Amass will be allowed to depart the club on loan this season, according to reports – with the teenage left-back seeing minutes away from Old Trafford as key to his development if he is to make the grade in the first-team in the future.

United’s injury and form crisis last season saw Amass feature in the incredible Europa League win over Lyon back in April, as well as coming on to shore up a huge aggregate lead over Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals, as well as making five appearances in the Premier League, with four of those being starts. However, at the age of 18, regular first-team minutes will be hard to come by next season, and he’ll be allowed to depart temporarily to further his development – following Marcus Rashford, who is also set to leave on loan for Barcelona.

The report by BBC journalist Simon Stone states that Amass was left out of United’s squad to face Leeds United in pre-season in Sweden on Saturday, with the game ending in a 0-0 draw – and he won’t travel with the squad to the USA for their pre-season summer tour.

That is because there has been an internal decision made for the former Watford youth star to go out on loan, with the promise of first-team football likely to be ideal for his development in terms of making him a United star in the future.

There is thought to be ‘lots of interest’ in the Red Devils star – who was called ‘fantastic’ by United full-back legend Denis Irwin – with seven appearances for the first-team last season seeing him perform well in a testing time for Ruben Amorim last season. But, with Patrick Dorgu taking the left wing-back role, as well as youngster Diego Leon recently joining alongside right-back duo Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot also able to play on the left, Amass will be sent out to garner game time elsewhere.

Leon will travel to the USA, having made his debut and impressed against Leeds over the weekend, and with Amass having been a regular fixture for England at youth level, that could see him star elsewhere before making the grade in the Premier League in the future.

Amass joined United in 2023 from Watford on a four-year contract, meaning that he has two years left on his United deal, allowing the club to assess his future going forward.
