FSG now ‘planning big summer spend’ at Anfield – GiveMeSport

Liverpool plan to do something “big” in the transfer window next summer, according to journalist Dean Jones.

While Reds supporters have not had too much to smile about lately after a poor start to the season, it looks like it could be a different story in 2023.

What was Liverpool’s last transfer window like?

Liverpool were not too busy when the market was last open.

During the summer, while they did spend big money on striker Darwin Nunez, they only brought in four players in total.

The above includes teenagers Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay and Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, who has only joined the club on loan.

In the same transfer window, Liverpool also lost Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich, so it was not exactly a summer to remember for supporters.

What has Jones said about Liverpool’s 2023 transfer plans?

In regards to the summer window of that year, Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that FSG could end up doing something big.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: “I have heard that Liverpool intend to go big next summer if the right profile of player is there for them. I mean, it obviously makes sense given the start to the season they’ve had and the flaws that are starting to creep into this squad.”

Who could Liverpool sign?

Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham is one name Liverpool have been heavily linked with, though signing him will be no easy task.

According to The Athletic, as well as the Reds, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid are all also keen on the England midfielder.

There has been some talk about Jurgen Klopp being interested in West Ham captain Declan Rice, too.

When was Liverpool’s Anfield ground built?

Football Insider recently claimed that the German is a big fan of the England international and can see him fitting into his team at Anfield.

Neither player is going to be cheap, with it being believed that Dortmund value Bellingham at around £130m. As for Rice, in the past, West Ham manager David Moyes has warned that it would cost £150m minimum to sign his skipper.

“£150 million just now would be the minimum, but he is not for sale,” the Hammers boss said earlier this year (via The Telegraph). “What I do know is that it means there are only certain clubs that could even consider it.”

It seems, though, that Liverpool could be prepared to splash out next summer, so do not rule anything out.
