Chelsea ‘will be in the conversation’ for Kylian Mbappe at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea will ‘definitely be in the conversation’ for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a shock exit from the Parc des Princes in recent days after reportedly falling out with the club’s hierarchy just months after signing a new contract.

What is the latest news involving Mbappe?

Fabrizio Romano has recently described Mbappe’s situation at PSG as ‘really tense’ before stating that ‘he wants to leave the club as soon as possible’ in a remarkable U-turn.

Mbappe only penned a new three-year deal back in May after flirting with Real Madrid throughout the summer, but now appears eager to seek pastures new once again.

However, Romano states that PSG have no intention to offload the France international in the January transfer window, while Luis Campos has questioned his reported desire to depart.

“I speak to Kylian Mbappé every day and he has never told me that he wants to leave the club in January,” Campos told RMC Sport.

What has O’Rourke said about Mbappe?

O’Rourke believes that should Mbappe become available for transfer over the coming months, that Chelsea will certainly be one the sides eager to secure his signature.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “I think they’ll definitely be in the conversation if Kylian Mbappe does become available in the next couple of transfer windows.

“I think Todd Boehly has shown his ambition for Chelsea, they have put their money where their mouth is since they’ve taken over from Roman Abramovich.

“They’re already making big plans for next season by trying to set up a deal for Christopher Nkunku, and I’m sure if Mbappe does become available, you’ll have Chelsea and all the top clubs across Europe who would love to sign him as well.”

How well has Mbappe been performing?

Mbappe has established himself as one of football’s biggest stars in recent years, registering 210 senior career goals in 290 appearances for Monaco and PSG while also providing 104 assists.

The speedster has also ranked in the 99th percentile for total shots, progressive carries, completed dribbles, touches in the attacking penalty area and progressive passes received amongst his teammates over the last year, as per FBref.

Signing Mbappe may be a dream for Chelsea at this moment in time, but it could well become a reality if Boehly continues to spend frivolously.
