Bayern Munich have enquired about signing Lyon winger Malick Fofana as a potential replacement for Luis Diaz (h/t Fabrizio Romano).
The German giants are looking to recruit a new winger this summer, with Liverpool’s Diaz topping their wishlist.
Despite getting the green light from the Colombian, Bayern have seen a couple of bids turned down by the Premier League giants.
Nevertheless, Bayern are ready to test the resolve of the Reds further with an improved bid as they are keen on sealing the deal.
Should a move fail to materialise, the Bavarians will turn their attention towards Fofana, who is one of the most sought-after youngsters in Europe.
Moving from Belgian outfit Gent, the 20-year-old was a revelation for Les Gones in an otherwise troubled 2024/25 campaign, marked by the financial collapse.
Fofana stole the spotlight with his excellent performances in Ligue 1 and the Europa League, racking up 11 goals and seven assists in all competitions.
Consequently, Fofana’s value has skyrocketed, attracting interest from a host of European heavyweights, including Liverpool, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.
Lyon have set a price tag in the region of €60 million for their prized asset, who made his debut with the Belgian national team last year.
With Bayern needing an upgrade for Kingsley Coman, Fofana would be an excellent long-term investment who has the potential to grow into one of the finest.
The price tag wouldn’t be an issue since Bayern have planned an outlay in excess of €100 million for new signings.
Meanwhile, talks for sensation Nick Woltemade have stalled after Stuttgart rebuffed Bayern’s back-to-back offers.

The Bavarians don’t want to succumb to the demands of Stuttgart, who are holding out on €65 million for Woltemade.
