VfL Bochum will be able to count on the services of their long-time captain for at least one more season. Thirty-six-year-old midfielder Anthony Losilla will remain active on the pitch throughout the the course of the 2023/24 season snd then remain at the Castopher Straße after his career ends.

After nearly decade of representing VfL Bochum, 36-year-old squad skipper Anthony Losilla feels as if there’s enough life in his legs to play another season for the club. The Frenchman then wishes to continue on in the club’s system as a coach. All of this was confirmed at a club press event on Wednesday, during which Losilla extended his expiring contract.
Losilla remains an important part of the squad, starting all 15 league matches under the coaching regimes of Thomas Reis and Thomas Letsch this season. He’s only missed a total of 20 minutes of league action all year. The Firminy-native will easily eclipse a total of 300 appearances for the Revierklub this spring.
“Having ‘Toto’ [Losilla] in the squad means: sporting quality, diligence, experience, true identification with the club, and 100% focus on the job,” VfL sporting director Patrick Fabian noted at the signing, “Anthony Losilla is a role model and not just for young players. He always leads the way, whether in training or during the match. He’s an absolute asset for the club.”
“I spent the longest part of my professional career in Bochum,” Losilla himself added, “The city and the club have grown on me, my family is here, we feel comfortable. My commitment is strong. I’m still burning for VfL and ready to support the team on the pitch. After my active career. I want to help inspire and train future generations of players for VfL.”
