£30m deal would ‘work for all parties’ at London Stadium

West Ham United should strengthen their interest in Chelsea striker Armando Broja as he would be ‘ideal’ for the London Stadium outfit and it ‘would work for all parties’, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

Broja spent last season on loan with Southampton and his impressive form on the south coast, which saw him grab a goal and an assist against the Hammers, has alerted David Moyes.

What’s the latest news involving Broja?

According to Sky Sports, West Ham are set to test Chelsea’s resolve by heading to the negotiating table with a £30million bid for Broja.

The report suggests the 14-cap Albania international has been identified as Hammers boss Moyes’ top striker target and the east Londoners are eager to intensify their pursuit.

It comes after West Ham insider ExWHUemployee revealed, following conversations with scouts and key figures within the club, Broja is a star the Premier League outfit are ‘100% interested in’ and Moyes is an admirer.

They have received a major boost as it has emerged that Southampton have pulled out of the running to welcome the 20-year-old back to St Mary’s after moving onto other targets.

However, Chelsea are in a strong negotiating position and unlikely to sell Broja on the cheap as he still has four years remaining on his contract after putting pen-to-paper a matter of weeks before joining Southampton on loan.

What has Paul Brown said about Broja?

Brown believes Broja would be a suitable addition to Moyes’ squad as he has been coping with Michail Antonio as his only senior striker option since Sebastien Haller was sold to Ajax by co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold in January 2021.

The journalist feels the Chelsea ace is unlikely to upset the applecart by agitating for regular game-time if Antonio remains as West Ham’s first choice frontman.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “Broja, I think, would be ideal for West Ham. He brings energy and is someone who can chase down players and put people under pressure in the same way that Antonio does.

“He probably also wouldn’t be someone who demands to play every week, so you’d have a clear number one and a clear number two who both get a lot of minutes.

“I think that’s a deal that would work for all parties, really.”

Did West Ham United sign Michail Antonio on transfer deadline day?

How did Broja compare to Antonio last season?

While Broja found the back of the net on nine occasions during the 2021/22 campaign, Antonio was more of a threat as he scored 13 goals and also racked up 11 assists.

However, statistics show that Broja recorded more shots on target per 90 minutes last term, emphasising that he is still a menace in the final third of the pitch.

He also averaged a higher number of pressures, blocks and interceptions over the course of the season, so it is clear he is willing to give his all when out of possession as well.
